Super friendly staff. I often see the employees handling and caring for the small animals. They never hesitate to let my kids hold something if it's reasonable; it helps the animals acclimate to human touch. They acquire their animals from local breeders, where they are cared for and not farmed in filth like the animals bought by big box stores.
I used to work in a tropical fish wholesaler. The Fish Nook knows what they are doing. I enjoy the store.
Please do not buy animals in this store. They keep them in terrible conditions. The cages are small and dirty. It looks they never were cleaned. Animals even don't have clean water. For example rabbit doesn't have space to stretch. I have no idea how healthy animal can live in such conditions. But after reading other reviews I understood they just feed them antibiotics to hide sickness. The animal should have vet record that says it doesn’t have any disease especially Chlamydia. I asked about one pet and salesperson told me it doesn’t have any vet records but it healthy. What else he could tell me?
Do not buy animals from here. My friend bought a few guppies from their store, and from the pictures she sent, all of their animals, and I mean ALL of them, were kept in awful conditions. She bought some from there to diversify her colony's genetics, and I took a few in her tank a week later and put the fish in two quarantine tanks I had a few other fish living in temporarily. Now four of our tanks have been infected with roundworm, a disease that is both almost impossible to eradicate in the aquarium, and is contagious to humans. The guppies have been breeding in the quarantine tanks for 7 months now, and it's absolutely heart wrenching to see them die off so often and so gruesomely. We will be euthanizing them all via clove oil next week, because we've tried everything there is. Every medication, every technique, everything. If I could give this store a lower review, I would. Please do not buy fish or any other animal from them, your health might really depend on it.
How other people could gave more than one star to this place?
It was very painful to look at all of this. I had filling that some animals emotionally gave up on their life.
I was in today after hearing stellar reveiws from customers of mine (i also work in a pet supply shop), and i was astonished by the conditions the animals were kept in. The rabbits and guinea pigs hardly had any hay, bedding was pushed to the edges and they were mostly laying on the bare plastic, water looked dirty, cages were small and just lined on shelves. The cages are small and didn't have room for any exercise, stretching, or even laying down or standing up straight. No enrichment at all for them and nothing to chew on, and i don't recall if i even saw a bowl of pellets for them. I highly doubt they are getting any veggies either. I felt so so bad for the animals there. I own 9 guinea pigs, 2 rabbits, a bearded dragon, and 2 cats. I can safely say i won't be going back to this shop again. Very disappointed to see that the only treats for sale as well where all Vitakraft yogurt drops and such, and the only food they carried was the kind with junk pieces mixed in it. You do know rabbits and guinea pigs are herbivores and can't digest dairy yogurt drops right? It seems this shop only cares about making money and does not care about their animals. I used to recommend this shop as an alternative for items not available in the store i work in, but i will no longer be directing any of our customers over there. :c
