St. Matthew's has helped me to find meaning and purpose in life. To live deeply and not just rush through the journey. I have had some pretty incredible experiences along the Way.
I started coming to St Matt’s with my husband and our teenagers a couple of years ago, in part because they have a strong ministry for youth. I became housebound for health reasons not long after. Even though we live in a town 15 minutes away and I didn’t get a chance to know lots of people before I couldn’t come anymore, I have received incredible support from this congregation. It’s especially appreciated since our families live out-of-state. Because I have been physically unable to drive, many people have volunteered to take me to countless trips to medical appointments in Boston and surrounding areas, provided meals and even free-ranged our chickens when my family was away and I had a setback! A committee chairperson heard I liked to do creative things and reached out to me, asking if I would participate in their work via email whenever I felt strong enough. I’ve never been to a church that went that far out of its way to give someone a chance to participate even though they couldn’t be there physically. That gesture has allowed me to feel that I am making a difference by personally contributing to the Lord’s work despite my current circumstance. Our pastor is incredibly authentic, and his messages are engaging, energizing, and pertinent to what’s happening in the world today. I listen to his sermons online; it gives me another opportunity to feel connected until I am able to return. These folks are amazing: they actively LIVE God’s love!
It provides an opportunity to have conversations of substance that go beyond how is the weather. There are some wonderful people here just waiting for you to visit and have a conversation.
We are so grateful for what St. Matthew’s has given to us. We look forward to receiving more love and support while striving to give all we can in return.
I have been a member of St. Matthew's since 1989. I love the welcoming and caring atmosphere and all the opportunities to get involved, whether engaging in community and international outreach, coming together to talk about socially relevant issues, exploring faith questions, and in the process getting to know great people. I feel very fortunate to be part of St. Matthew's.
My son and I are relatively new to the St. Matthew’s community. We looked for a church for him to explore and express his Christian spirituality. I was hopeful that a church community−especially a youth group−would offer him the support and sense of belonging he needed.
Open minded and accepting
At St. Matthew’s, we have both found all of that and more. We have met a vibrant, caring group of people who continuously provide us with the strength to meet the challenges we face every day. We take full advantage of many of the groups, programs, and activities offered at St. Matthew’s, each one making us feel more and more a part of a dynamic church community.
